lying in bed, jolted awake
because your friend Consciousness
decided to stop by
he invited his friend Worry,
and he invited his family,
Billy, Family, Spouse,
Children, and good ol’ Future
they loom over your head
like giant monsters, deceiving
you with the cover of darkness
then your dad stops by,
visiting from home on Memory Lane
just wanting to say hi and
make an appearance at your party
Self-Consciousness then drops in, reminding
you of all the stupid things you’ve done
and then, the alarm clock goes off.
