falling, sinking, drowning, dying
lying down, no longer trying
giving up, the war it lost
the battles won, forgotten by most
the wounded men, no cries of pain
worried more about the general’s name
they all had failed, their mission’s gone
by all now death would be welcome
the country’s lost, the world will end
just because they could not defend.
