tighter and tighter around my neck
blocking off the much needed air
tighter and tighter still, never slacking
my head feels like it’s going to explode
my cells scream out violently for oxygen
but I can’t inhale or exhale
bright white light flashes in my eyes
temporarily blinding me
my face is pressed flat against glass
the damn fabric just won’t rip
colored spots start flashing
and the pain fades slowly away
I grow still as my body seems
to float away into the colorful
scene, and I close my eyes
to the world.
