Time Slips Away
By Jennifer Haynes

Time slips away and I don’t care.
I watch the clock tick my life away,
second by second, minute by minute,
but it makes no difference to me.
It’s easier to just sit here and watch.
It takes a conscious effort to put
one foot in front of the other,
and I am exhausted. I don’t feel
like dragging myself through this
sludgy mess that is my life. I
would rather just sit here and watch
the cloak tick my life away, second
by second, minute by minute, until
I have to suffer no more.
