are we really alive, or is this just an illusion?
perhaps we are nothing more than characters
in someone else’s dream. Or maybe
we are someone’s pets, living in a jar
on his table as he watches us and laughs
at how funny we are. And maybe he
is part of someone else’s dream, or
living in someone else’s jar. It
could go on infinitely. Suppose
all we are, are puppets on strings…
we say we think and do things for
ourselves, but maybe someone is
just pulling strings. The universe
could exist on a blade of grass,
no larger than a speck of dust,
and trampled on several times a
day by unwatchful beings. Time
is just a concept held in our
minds; it doesn’t really exist.
The person outside this jar
could watch the beginning
and end of the world in less
than a second, not billions of
years. We can never know the
answer to these complicated questions
but….what if?
